News and Announcements

See the Leader! Be the Leader!

Your child is a leader! Give him leadership roles at home. At James Ward Elementary School we are preparing children to lead in many environments -- school, home, church, and community. Super Learners Make Super Leaders! Developing leaders --- one child at a time!

Little Dribblers Tuneup Tourney - March 6

James Ward Elementary School will host a Little Dribblers Basketball Tuneup Tournament during the week of March 6-11 to raise funds for our student reward programs. Nights of play and number of games will depend on the number of teams that sign up. Call 824-1235 or email suzanne.doucet@Jdpsbk12.org for more information.

PreK and Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten and Pre-K Roundup for the 2017-2018 school year continues. Children must be four (4) years old on or before September 30, 2017, in order to attend James Ward Pre-K in August 2017. Our district offers a Universal Pre-K program where all four-year-olds are served. Children must be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2017, in order to attend Kindergarten in August 2017. Registrations will also be taken for new first and second-grade students. For more information, call Vickie Mack or Vanessa Lopez at 824-1235.

Building Leaders at James Ward Elementary

In February we are focusing on Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Listen before you speak.

The first three Habits of Happy Kids are ...
Habit 1: Be Proactive: You are in charge of you!
Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind! Set your goals!
Habit 3: Work first, then play!
Habit 4: Think Win-Win! Everyone can win!

Each year brings opportunities for academic, social, and emotional growth. Children must be knowledgeable when they graduate, but they must also be healthy, engaged, responsible, and caring. Together, we will watch each child grow daily!
